Interview date: Olympic  Years: 1972

Michael left playing hockey for Britain after being dropped from the squad in 1968 after being diagnosed with a heart murmur.

However the new coach called him and persuaded Michael to try out for the next games and in 1972 he was selected for Team GB. The tragic hostage situation changed the whole games. Michael resolved to win a medal before retiring, and went on to win the European Cup in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
