1988 - Seoul

Introduction
Olympics A record 159 nations participated in Seoul, but the big story was the disqualification of Canadian Ben Johnson for testing positive for drugs. Seoul also saw a female German cyclist become the first person to win both winter and summer medals in the same year.
Paralympics Seoul hosted 75,000 spectators at the opening ceremony who cheered on a record 3057 competitors from 61 countries at these Games. New strict criteria however meant that 156 events couldn't be held because of lack of participants.
